GLEN, NH — Robert (Bob) Cecil Peterson, 85, of Glen, NH, formerly of Danvers, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 9, 2016.
He was the son of the late Sara (Nickerson) Stewart and the late Henry and Nancy O’Blenes.
He was born in Swampscott, MA, in 1931 and educated at Lynn (MA) Public Schools, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1948. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Far East during the Korean Conflict and then with the Strategic Air Command in Great Falls, MT. After returning, he earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Boston University in 1957.
His professional career spanned 35 years in the semiconductor industry. In 1969, he co-founded Nova Devices with Dr. Modesto Maidique, later merging the company with Analog Devices in Wilmington, MA. He became a Vice President of Analog Devices and this position took him to several international locations. After Analog, he joined Collaborative Research of Waltham, MA as Senior Vice President of Operations. He was a Charter Member of BOSTEN. After retiring in 1991, Bob served as a consultant at Florida International University. He also served on the boards for several high technology companies while remaining active in the Boston venture capital community.
Bob and his wife, Carol, lived in Danvers, MA, for 30 years where they raised four children. He was an enthusiastic little league coach and mentor to many young people. He was known as someone very easy to talk to who could connect to others mentoring the careers of many grateful people. After retiring to Glen, NH, he worked for 20 years at Attitash Ski Resort. He was very athletic and enjoyed skiing and golf. He was also an award-winning watercolor and pen and ink artist, and proudly displayed his artwork locally.
He is deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Ruddock) Peterson, three daughters—Kristine Schulz and her husband Scott of Bradford, MA; Kimberly Jewett and her husband Bruce of Pelham, NH; and Kyle Currier and her husband Gene of Gorham, ME—and one son, Kurt Peterson and his wife Deanna of Andover, MA. In addition to his children, he is greatly missed by nine grandchildren—Samantha (Schulz) Komorous and her husband Brian of Newburyport, MA; Stefan Schulz and his fiancé Julia Del Muro of North Andover, MA; Alyssa Jewett of Pelham, NH; Hannah and Jordan Currier of Gorham, ME; Deidra, Derek, Darla, and Darsie Peterson of Andover, MA and September (Jewett) Ingram and her husband Ryan of Hudson, NH. He is also sorely missed by his sister-in-law Elizabeth (Ruddock) Hamilton of Hamilton, MA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother Raleigh O’Blenes of Shapleigh, ME, and his sister Eleanor (O’Blenes) Small of Swampscott, MA.
