WILMINGTON, MA — At Monday’s Board of Selectmen Meeting, Town Manager Jeff Hull introduced Denise “Dee” Casey as Wilmington’s new Assistant Town Manager and Human Resources Director.
Hull noted that Casey had almost 20 years of municipal government experience, including Human Resources positions with the communities of Bedford, Concord and – most recently – Lexington. Casey has taught at Suffolk University, where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s in Public Administration.
“I was fortunate to be able to offer the position to Dee and I’m gratified that she accepted,” said Hull. “Beyond the HR piece, there’s a lot of other areas that I anticipate Dee being involved in, including the budget process, the procurement process and special projects, including New England Transrail.”
“I look forward to working with you on behalf of the residents. You’re going to be a great asset to the town,” Selectman Greg Bendel told Casey. “Having grown up here, I can tell you that Wilmington is a terrific place to live and work.”
“Congratulations on the position,” added Selectman Mike McCoy. “The former Assistant Town Manager did a fantastic job and I’m sure you will too.”
“I’m awfully glad to have you,” Selectman Mike Champoux said to Casey. “Based on your credentials and history, I’m confident you’ll hit the ground running and fit right in.”
Selectwoman Judy O’Connell and Selectman Kevin Caira also offered brief welcoming remarks.
“I love the culture here. Everyone has been very welcoming,” Casey told the Selectmen. “I feel I can help contribute to what’s already a well-run community for hopefully a a very long time. I look forward to working with all of you.”
Casey assumed her position on December 5. She takes over from Kendra Amaral, who recently left Wilmington to become Town Manager in Kittery, Maine.
