Santa To Travel Around Wilmington For 2nd Year, New Format Implemented

WILMINGTON, MA — The second annual Wilmington Santa Run (aka “Santa Parade”) is scheduled for Saturday, December 10, from 9am to 4pm.

Santa, traveling with a small parade of public safety vehicles, will be stopping at FIVE locations around town — the Shawsheen Elementary School, the Wildwood Early Childhood Center, the Woburn Street Elementary School, the North Intermediate School, and Town Hall.

Each stop, which will last for approximately one hour, will feature various Christmas activities, including photo ops with Santa, Christmas carols, and candy giving. Volunteers will be present to collect non-pershible food items for the Food Pantry and toys for the Fire Department’s Holiday Toy Drive for Wilmington kids.

Members of the Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, A&S Towing and Forest Towing, along with family members, will be donating their time to put smiles on as many Wilmington kids’ faces as possible.

More details on the event, including a schedule of the five stops, will soon be released on the event’s new Facebook page and on the Wilmington Police Department’s social media accounts.

On Monday night, Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis and Officer Daniel Furbush updated the Board of Selectmen on the Santa Run.  Selectmen unanimously approved their request to hold the event.
