5 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (November 13)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 5 things you need to know in Wilmington for Sunday, November 13, 2016.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 57.

#2) We’re One Wilmington (WOW) is holding an Anything Drive at Villanova Hall (behind St. Thomas of Villanova Church) from 9am to noon. Items collected will be distributed to Wilmington non-profit organizations, families and individuals in need. Items not matched will be brought to Lowell Wish, Mission of Deeds, or Heartbeat.

The drive is termed “Anything” because WOW will accept pretty much anything new or used in excellent and working condition. A partial list of suggested items include:

  • Clothing
  • Linens and household goods and small appliances
  • Toys/Games
  • Box tops
  • Food
  • Bicycles
  • Baby Items
  • Medical equipment (wheel chairs, bed rails, etc.)
  • Furniture
  • Books
  • Working electronics

#3) The Junior Chapter of We’re One Wilmington is holding a meeting from 11am to noon at Villanova Hall.

#4) Boston Auctions (355 Middlesex Avenue) is holding its weekly Indoor Flea Market from 8am to 4pm. Learn more HERE.

#5) Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) will host a gun show, featuring 500 tables, from 9am to 3pm. Participants can buy, sell and trade sports, antique, and collectible firearms; custom and high quality knives; and various militaria. The general admission fee for adults is not listed, but parking is free and children 12 and under, with an adult, are free.  Learn more HERE. A $1-off coupon can be found HERE. The event is hosted by New Mart Promotions of Massachusetts and promoted by the NRA-affiliated Westchester Collectors Club.

PLUS: Barnes & Noble is holding a book fair to benefit Wilmington-based iPods for Wounded Veterans. The book fair takes place at the Burlington Barnes & Noble (98 Middlesex Turnpike) on Friday, November 11 (9am-11pm), Saturday, November 12 (9am-11pm), and Sunday, November 13 (10am-9pm). People can also participate online by visiting bn.com/bookfair from Friday, November 11 through Friday, November 18. Simply use Bookfair ID 11995321 at the in-store checkout or before checking out online. A percentage of in-store and online purchases will benefit iPods for Wounded Veterans. PLUS: The Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm.  Learn about the canal’s history and its impact on the area, including Wilmington.
