WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 15 things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, October 22, 2016.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington may see rain. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Light northwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
#2) The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Tewksbury is holding a Cornhole Tournament at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus (112 Middlesex Avenue). Warmup begins at 11am. #3) The Wilmington Sons of Italy will be holding a fundraiser from 6pm to 10pm at the Tewksbury VFW (87 Vernon Street) to support the victims of the Earthquake that devastated the Italian region of Lazio. The Sons of Italy will be serving a meal of pizza, salad, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar and a DJ will provide music. Tickets are available for a $10 donation at the door. All money raised from this fundraiser will be donated to the Sons of Italy Foundation, which is working directly with the Italian Embassy to direct funds to emergency relief, recovery and rebuilding as requested by the Italian Government.
#4) Cub Scout Pack 126 of Wilmington is holding a pumpkin sale from 9am to 6pm at the Friendship Lodge (32 Church Street). The Cub Scouts will also hold a Haunted House on at the Lodge. There will be a a Haunted House appropriate for kids (grades 1-5) from 4pm to 5:30pm, then a scarier Haunted House appropriate for older kids and adults from 7pm to 8pm. Learn more HERE.
#5) The Wilmington Democratic Town Committee will hold its annual Scholarship Breakfast from 9am to 11am at Windsor Place (92 West Street) in Wilmington. Local, regional and state Democrats are being invited to speak about their campaigns or the 2016 campaign in general. Tickets are $20 each. Proceeds benefit the Committee’s Scholarship Fund. #6) The Wilmington Health Department is hosting a Town Wide Flu Clinic for residents ages 5 & up from noon to 3pm at Wilmington Town Hall. Learn more HERE.
#7) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Emblem Club is holding its annual Fall Shopping Fair from 10am to 2pm at the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks Lodge (777 South Street). Crafters and vendors will be displaying their goods, from jewelry to clothes to home decor. The event will also feature a bake sale and raffle table. #8) The Boston Derby Dames, a Boston-based, female-only roller derby league, returns to the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). Doors open at 4pm. The double-header begins at 5pm with the the consolation game (Cosmonaughties vs. Nutcrackers), followed by the championship game (Harbor Horrors vs. Wicked Pissahs) at 7pm. Tickets include admission to both games, plus entry into the Players’ After Party in the Fez Room at 9pm. Tickets are $12 (advance) and $16 (at the door) for adults; $6 (advance) and $8 (at the door) for kids (6-17); and kids under 6 are free. There is a small fee for online purchased. #9) The Wilmington Arts Council is presenting an eight-week photography course starting TODAY. The classes will be taught by Bruce Hilliard, from 1pm to 3:30pm, on Saturdays at the Wilmington Arts Center. Learn more HERE.

#15) Join Lyndell’s Bakery (720 Broadway, Ball Square) this weekend — Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23 — for its 4th Annual Sean Collier Memorial Fundraiser Weekend. The event raises funds for the Somerville Auxiliary Police’s Sean Collier Memorial Scholarship, which helps Somerville High School seniors pursuing a career in law enforcement. $1 from every sale of the bakery’s custom half moon with Sean’s Somerville PD badge #310 on it will be donated to the Scholarship Fund. The bakery will also have raffles for customers to take a chance on, including sports memorabilia. All raffle proceeds will also be donated to the Scholarship Fund. Free coffee will be served.
