10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (October 11, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 10 things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, there will areas of frost before 8am in Wilmington. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 62. Light and variable wind.  The evening will see a low of around 41 with a calm wind.

#2) The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets at 7pm at Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.  The board will receive an updated on the town’s automated trash and recycling collection program.

#3) The Wilmington Historical Commission meets at 7pm at the Town Museum. Read the agenda HERE.  The board will discuss the Butters Farmhouse, Facilities Master Plan, and the Town Museum’s Harvest Festival on October 30.

#4) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding TWO programs:

  • Art Adventures: Pointillism (3:45pm-4:45pm)
  • How To Be A Psychic (7pm-8:30pm)

#5) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is hosting its normal Tuesday activities:

  • Walking Group (9am)
  • Zumba (9am)
  • Computer Class (9:15am)
  • Bocce (9:30am)
  • Aerobics (10:30am)
  • Wii Bowling (12:30pm)

#6) Several Wilmington High School sports teams are in action:

  • 3:30pm — BOYS Varsity Golf @ Amesbury
  • 3:30pm — BOYS Varsity Cross Country vs Watertown (at Wilmington High)
  • 3:30pm — GIRLS Varsity Cross Country vs Watertown (at Wilmington High)
  • 6:15pm — GIRLS Varsity Field Hockey @ Melrose
  • 7:15pm — GIRLS JV Field Hockey @ Melrose

#7) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#8) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.

#9) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.
