10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (September 25)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 10 things you need to know in Wilmington for Sunday, September 25, 2016.

#1) The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is running its 12th Annual Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk which begins at WCTV Headquarters (10 Waltham Street). Registration and sign in is open from 8am to 9:30pm. Racers and walkers need to be at the start line by 9:45am. Learn more HERE.

#2) The Wilmington Farmers Market is open every Sunday, from June 12 to October 9 (minus July 3), from 10am to 1pm, across from the Town Common.  Read this week’s lineup HERE.  Guitarist & singer Joe Leary will be performing.

#3) The Suburban Boston Fall Home Show wraps up today from 10am to 6pm at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). Admission and parking is free. Learn more HERE.

#4)  Tin Bucket Shop (12 Woburn Street, Reading) is holding a Paint Night fundraiser for the Wilmington High School Cheerleading program at 5pm.Tickets cost $40 per person, which includes paint supplies, food and drink. 50% of proceeds will benefit the WHS Cheerleaders. Email coachamandabeddia[at]gmail.com to reserve your spot.

#5) The Wilmington Little League is holding its majors tryouts at 10am at Rotary Park. Can’t make it?  There will be another tryout session on Saturday, October 1 at 10am. Learn more HERE.

#6) The Massachusetts State Police is holding a Sobriety Checkpoint somewhere in Middlesex County Saturday night into Sunday morning. Learn more HERE.

#7) TRAFFIC ADVISORY: The Route 38 bridge, near the Town Park, is closed for repairs through Monday morning. Detours are in place.  Learn more HERE.

#10)  The Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm.  Learn about the canal’s history and its impact on the area, including Wilmington.
