WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 13 things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, September 17, 2016.
#1) The New England Pet Expo is open from 10am to 5pm at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). Admission and parking is FREE. The event includes 110 exhibitor booths featuring various unique pet products, pet clothing and accessories, pet treats and more. In addition, attendees can learn about exotic animals and wildlife conservation as well as local rescue organizations and how they can help save, foster, adopt or care for local animals in need. #2) Chili’s (207 Main Street, Wilmington Crossing) is holding a all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8am to 11am. Pancakes will be served with bacon and a choice of milk, juice or coffee. Entry costs $1o for adults and $5 for children (10 and under). All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
#3) Rocco’s Restaurant & Bar (193 Main Street) is holding its annual “Half Way To St. Patrick’s Day” celebration from 11:30am to 3pm. The corned beef and cabbage meal will be on the menu at $14.95, with seniors receiving a 10% discount on it.The event will also include Guinness, Black & Tans, giveways, music and trivia. #4) Academy of Traditional Karate (155 West Street, Suite 5, Wilmington) is holding an Open House from 9am to 1pm. The Open House will feature:
- 9:15am – American Ninja Warrior style obstacle course (Students and guests)
- 9:15am – Bootcamp/Self Defense Class (Students and guest-adults)
- 10:15am – American Ninja Warrior style obstacle course (Students and guests)
- 10am or 11am – New student introductory lessons (Ages 4.5+)
- 12pm – New student introductory lesson (ages 3-4.5)
In addition to the classes, the event will include hotdogs and slush, live music, raffles and auctions to benefit Autism Speaks.
#5) Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is hosting a community event to showcase its electric vehicle (EV) programs and those available from the state from 10am to 2 pm at RMLD Headquarters (230 Ash Street) in Reading. Plug-in vehicles from local automobile dealers will be available for test rides and drives. RMLD customers with EVs will be in attendance to offer insider reviews and commentary. Learn more HERE.
#6) The Wilmington United Methodist Church’s Outreach Committee is holding a small Yard Sale from 9am to 2pm on the church’s lawn (87 Church Street). All proceeds will benefit The Wish Project.

#8) The Charities Committee of St. Thomas and St. Dorothy are collecting food, cleaning products and personal hygiene items for their own parishioners in need. Donations of non-pershiable food items, household cleaning products, and personal hygiene items can be left at the entrances of both churches this weekend.
#9) Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) is hosting Karaoke with Winnell Entertainment at 8pm.
#10) The WHS Varsity Girls Soccer team battles Tewksbury at 10am at Tewksbury High School. The Varsity WHS Field Hockey team hosts Melrose at 11am at Wilmington High School. The Varsity WHS Football team hosts Franklin County Tech School at 7pm at Wilmington High School.
#11) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding a Cemetery Stroll from 10am to 11am. Participants meet in the library’s parking lot. Learn more and register HERE.
