WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Department of Public Works issued the following notice to residents earlier this week:
Residents are reminded that Wilmington has mandatory water restrictions in place 365 days a year. With the dry weather we have been experiencing, the Town is taking this opportunity to remind residents of the following restrictions:
- No outdoor watering between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm.
- Both above ground and installed underground sprinklers may only be used once per week, subject to the above restrictions.
- Per the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the Town will be required to ban sprinklers entirely if this policy is not followed.
- Other outside water use is restricted to hand held hoses only.
- Violations of the water use restrictions will result in a minimum $50.00 per day fine.
Also, the Town could institute a full outdoor watering ban in the future. Please watch for future notices on WCTV and your local newspaper. The Town thanks residents in advance for their cooperation.
