WILMINGTON, MA — Starting the week of Monday, July 18, the Water Division of the Department of Public Works will begin the installation of a new 8-inch cement lined ductile iron water main on Pine Avenue, from Main Street to Hobson Avenue. During this project, area residents may temporarily experience discolored water and low water pressure.
Once this project is completed, the upgraded water main will improve both water quality and quantity. This upgrade will also allow area residents the opportunity to increase fire protection in the area.
Work will begin at approximately 8:00 AM. Workers will try and limit disrupting egress as much as possible. Please do not park any vehicles on the road during construction. Please feel free to talk to the crew directly if there is a problem and they will try to accommodate you if possible.
The Town anticipates completing the water main installation in approximately three weeks and we will begin transferring individual water services to the new main approximately one week later. Area residents will be notified by Water Department personnel if water service will be temporarily interrupted. Since difficulties can occur and water service could be unexpectedly disrupted, the Town suggests residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Water Division at (978) 658-4711. The Town apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your patience during this project.
(NOTE: The above notice is from the Town’s DPW website.)
