NORTH READING, MA — Chief Michael Murphy reports that the North Reading Police Department is investigating a hit and run crash that left one man injured and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect and vehicle involved.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Friday, July 15, North Reading Police received a 911 call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a passing motorist.
According to police, a man was walking along the side of the road in the area of 280 Main Street when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle involved left the scene prior to a 911 call being placed to police.
North Reading Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicle of interest is described as a maroon colored, two-door convertible with a dark top — similar to a Mazda Miata or Mazda MX series — and was last seen traveling North on Main Street (Route 28) toward Andover.
The operator of the vehicle is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build and partially gray hair, wearing a light blue short sleeved shirt with a collar.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect or vehicle involved in this case are asked to immediately contact North Reading Police at 978-664-3131.
