10 Things To Do In Wilmington Today (June 4, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things to do today in Wilmington on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

#1) A fundraiser for Wilmington’s newest Boy Scout Troop — Troop 126 — will be held on Saturday, June 4, from 7pm to 11pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).

The Founder’s Dinner will include:

  • A cocktail hour with cheese & crackers
  • A “Little Taste of Italy” dinner featuring Ziti with Marinara Sauce, Chicken Parmesan, Meatballs, Sausage Peppers & Onions, Tossed Salad, Rolls and Butter, and Assorted Desserts
  • Silent Auction
  • DJ with Dancing

All proceeds will benefit:

  • Attendance at programs like National Youth Leadership Training
  • Attendance at the National Jamboree in 2017
  • Troop’s need equipment
  • Troop’s popular outdoor programs

#2) The Wilmington Recreation Department is sponsoring the 34th Annual Fishing Derby at Silver Lake on Saturday, June 4, 2016. This multigenerational event for youth and non-professional adults began in 1983. The Derby allows the Town to showcase its finest natural resource while participants have a chance to learn or improve their fishing skills.

The Derby will run from 9am to noon at Town Beach. Participants must register in the Bath House. Prizes will be awarded for the Heaviest Bass and Heaviest Non-Bass in both age groups.

The cost to participate in the Derby is $4 for those ages 18 and over, and $2 for anyone age 17 and under. Bait will be available for purchase. There will be shore fishing only – no boats. No fishing license is required for this event only. Rain date is Sunday, June 5.

#3)  The Wilmington Council for the Arts is holding the final day of its 36th Annual Art Exhibition this Saturday, June 4, from 11am to 4pm, at the Wilmington Arts Center (219 Middlesex Avenue).

#4) “All Night Fight,” a team participating in this month’s Wilmington Relay For Life, is holding a Car Wash Fundraiser on Saturday, June 4, from 10am to 1:30pm, in the Wilmington United Methodist Church’s parking lot (87 Church Street).  All donations received will go the American Cancer Society.

#5) A couple of Wilmington Relay For Life teams will be canning at the Dunkin Donuts near Rocco’s and the Dunkin Donuts near the Wilmington House of Pizza from 7am to 11am.

#6) Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) is hosting Karaoke from Winnell Entertainment at 8pm.

#8) The Writing Group at the Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) meets from 9:15am to 11:15am. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.

#10) The Wilmington Food Pantry (142 Chestnut Street) is open from 10am to noon for food donation drop-offs. Learn which food items the Pantry is most in need of HERE.
