WOBURN, MA – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. recently announced the winners of its fourth annual Poster Project.
The Shawsheen Tech’s Dating Violence Awareness Group — consisting of students Sarah Bavota, Kristin Brown, Chloe Doyle, Sarah King, Kasey Mearls, Kathryn Milliken, Brooke Morrissey, Michael Moriconi, Gabriella Paolicelli, Matt Pereira, Jade Piracha, Jack Rettman, Ashley Robson, Hope Splaine, Amanda Tinker, Matt Troisi, Makayla Martinez — received an “Honorable Mention” award for their poster “Hit Me, Hit Me Not”.

The annual Poster Project, sponsored by District Attorney Ryan and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc., encourages students to create a poster that shares a positive message for fellow teens. This year’s theme was “Write the Story You Want to Tell”. More than 77 posters from middle and high school students in Middlesex County were submitted.
“This year’s theme was about empowering students to reflect on who they are and who they want to become,” said District Attorney Ryan. “The posters submitted encourage students to write their own story and focus on self-discovery, confidence, goal-setting, and good decision making. Every student who submitted a poster should be proud of the work they have done to spread positive messages to their peers.”
Cheyanne Thistle, a 10th grader from at Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Pepperell, was named the first place winner for her submission titled “Self Confidence.”
Tyler Millan, a junior from Minuteman Tech who submitted a poster called “Shut Your Addiction Down,” and Adam Rubinic, a junior from Nashoba Tech who submitted a poster called “Walk Your Own Path,” received Honorable Mention along with the Shawsheen Tech students.
The winners were selected by a panel of judges which included art teachers, police officers, school administrators, and staff of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth.
Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. (MPY) is a non-profit organization which provides prevention and intervention resources and training to Middlesex school districts and communities. District Attorney Ryan is the Chair of the MPY Board of Directors. Through the efforts of District Attorney Ryan and MPY, educators, parents, and students can regularly engage in collaborative trainings with law enforcement, social services, and community-based organizations as well as share the latest information and resources. Such interactions provide the foundation for creating solution-oriented, community-based, multi-disciplinary approaches to addressing youth violence, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, hate crimes, and harassment across Middlesex County.
