WILMINGTON, MA — A Wilmington Fun on the Fourth carnival is all but official now after two carnival companies responded to the Town’s request for proposal (RFP) prior to yesterday’s 10am deadline.
“We will be reviewing the proposals for completeness and a committee of reviewers will rank their proposal in relation to the evaluation criteria established in the RFP,” explained Assistant Town Manager Kendra Amaral.
The two proposals will be evaluated based on each company’s experience, track record, overall proposal, carnival plan, ticket & admission plan, and financial proposal.
The committee of reviewers may also choose to interview the companies as part of the evaluation process.
The town will award the contract within 10 business days of Wednesday.
“The Town Manager wants to move expeditiously to ensure there is sufficient time to finalize details,” said Amaral.
The tentative carnival is scheduled for Thursday, June 30 (5pm-9pm); Friday, July 1 (5pm-9pm); Saturday, July 2 (noon-10pm); and Sunday, July 3 (1pm-8pm) at the old Swain School site (140-150 Middlesex Avenue).
The carnival will feature 12-14 rides, including 8 “kiddie” rides, and no more than 12 booths for concessions and games. Fireworks will take place on the evening of Saturday, July 2. The Town will be providing additional details once the carnival company is selected.
