WILMINGTON, MA — The Town Hall has a new installation of artwork. For the month of April, the Town Hall will be the temporary home of poems written by the North Intermediate School’s 5th Grade class. Each poem is accompanied by an illustration created by the student authors. The 23 poems were created as part of a collaboration between 5th Grade teacher Amy Iascone and North Andover Poet Laureate Karen Kline. The project is called LITTER-Art and is being displayed in conjunction with the celebration of Poetry Month.
A component of the LITTER-Art project is the collection of comments from visitors. The comments can express feedback on the wording of the poetry, or the feelings, memories or images the works invoke. Comment cards are available where the poems are installed and are being collected in the Town Manager’s Office. The comments will be distributed to the students and will provide them with insight into the impact their creative works can have on a community.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to foster creativity in our students. I am pleased to be able to host these creative works,” said Town Manager Jeffrey Hull.
Poems are on display in the main entrance area of Town Hall until April 29, 2016.
