New Scholarships Announced In Memory Of Tony Alonardo

WILMINGTON, MA — Tony Alonardo was dedicated coach and member of WYH for many years. He was also a WHS Girl’s hockey coach for several years. He was a great coach, loved his players and demanded their respect. His favorite player wasn’t the superstar or the fastest, but the player who showed up to work hard, played with their heart and respected their coaches, game officials, team members and even the opposing teams and coaches.

2 scholarships will be awarded for $500.00 (one male and one female player) to the applicants would writes the best essay as described below under application process.

Who Can Apply:

High School Senior that played in the Wilmington Youth Hockey Program at any level.

Application Process:

Submit the attached application form and a 1 single spaced essay describing what being on a hockey team has meant to you, what you learned from that experience and what you learned from your coaches.

Submitting Your Application:

There are two methods to submit your application.

  • If you attend Wilmington High School – submit application and essay to the Guidance Office
  • If you attend another High School – submit application and essay to Wilmington Youth Hockey, P.O. Box 492, Wilmington, MA 01887

When Are Applications Due?

The application deadline is April 1, 2016

How will funds be distributed?

Scholarship award winners will be announced and receive a check at the Wilmington High School Awards night or by mail if the recipient does not attend Wilmington High School.

The TonyA5K Scholarship Program is a publicly endowed fund established to provide scholarships to children of (i) Tony Alonardo, (ii) Wilmington MA High School Seniors, and others as the Directors of the Foundation may, in their discretion, designate. Students in any one of the above mentioned categories who are about to commence a college education or who are currently in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree are eligible to apply. Selection of TonyA5K Scholarship recipients is, based on objective, non-discriminatory criteria without regard to race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or ethnicity.
