TOWN ELECTION UPDATE: Bendel & Caira Return Papers, Housing Authority Candidate Emerges

WILMINGTON, MA — With less than a week until the March 3 nomination papers filing deadline, it appears this year’s only contested town election in Wilmington will be for the Board of Selectmen.

Selectmen candidates Greg Bendel and Kevin Caira, as expected, returned their nomination papers this week, officially joining Joseph Lavino and Thomas Miller on the April 23rd ballot.  The only other declared candidate — Martin Meyer — has yet to return his papers, but – in fairness – only pulled them a week ago.  The five men are competing for two open seats with 3-year terms.

While there’s been no change in the make-up of the uncontested Wilmington School Committee or Shawsheen Tech School Committee races, a candidate for the Wilmington Housing Authority has emerged, with resident Michael Hudson pulling nomination papers on Friday, February 19.

Here is where all races that are part of this year’s Town Election currently stand, according to an update from the Town Clerk’s Office provided on February 26:
