WILMINGTON, MA — Steven R. Arsenault, age 67, of Springvale, Maine, formerly of Wilmington, MA, died unexpectedly on February 5, 2016.
Steve was born in Everett, MA on February 21, 1949; he was the dear son of the late George and Maud (Jackson) Arsenault. Steve grew up in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1968. Following graduation, Steve went directly into the U. S. Navy and served until 1980 when he was honorably discharged.
Like his father, Steve was a mechanic and welder; he used those skills along with his training as a scuba diver to weld the bottom of ships.
Steve also worked at Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington for 11 years and then at Malden Mills of Lawrence where he met his wife of over 22 years Bessie, who was from Lawrence, MA. Steve and Bessie married in 1994 and moved to Springvale, Maine in 2000.
Steve enjoyed hiking, fishing, bowling, camping, and traveling but his greatest love was motorcycling.
Steve was the beloved husband of Bessie Arsenault, devoted father of Steven Arsenault, Jr. & his wife Gigi and the late Angelique (Angel) Arsenault, loving grandfather of Hannah and Haley Arsenault, Mandy Larocque and step-grandchildren Mattieu and Alyssa Cloutier. Dear brother of Joan Phillips & her husband George of Wilmington, MA, the late George Arsenault, Charles Arsenault, and Jeanette O’Connor. Steve was the step-father of Mattieu Cloutier & his wife Brenda, Sabrina Trottier & her husband Shawn, and the late Matilda Dawson. Steve is also survived by his first wife Darleen Swan as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service with Military Honors at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Springvale, Maine, on Saturday, February 27th at 12:00 noon. Immediately following the service all are invited to continue a celebration of Steven’s life at the American Legion Hall, 656 Main Street, Springvale, Maine (near the Willard School).
