HOT OFF THE PRESS: First Look At 2016-2017 Wilmington School Calendar

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee approved the 2016-2017 school calendar at its meeting on Wednesday night.  The calendar was posted to the school district’s website on Thursday.

The calendar can be found below and HERE.

Some key points include:

  • First day of school for Grades 1-12 is Tuesday, August 30
  • First day of school for Kindergarten is Tuesday, September 6
  • School will be closed on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8) for a Professional Development Day
  • There will be an Early Release Day on Friday, December 23, leading into Winter Vacation.  At Wednesday’s meeting, Superintendent Mary DeLai noted some Massachusetts school districts were planning on closing that Friday while others were planning on holding full days. DeLai decided to “split the difference” and opt with an early release.
  • School is closed on Friday, April 14 in observance of Good Friday, leading into April vacation.
  • Last day of school is Tuesday, June 20, assuming all 5 built-in snow days are used. And that day is an early release.
