WHS Students Invited To Enter ‘YOUth Should Vote’ Video Contest

BOSTON, MA — The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA) invites all Massachusetts high school students to enter its third annual Student Video Contest. The theme for this year’s contest is “YOUth Should Vote!,” a fun initiative designed to foster youth civic awareness.

To mobilize the youth vote in Election 2016, the LWVMA is inviting Massachusetts high school students to send in 30-second videos (public service announcements) that encourage young people (ages 18-29) to register to vote and turn out at the polls in November.

First place wins $1,000; second place wins $500; and third place wins $250. The winning videos will be widely publicized and winners will be invited to an award ceremony at the Massachusetts State House.

Entries may be submitted online at http://www.lwvma.org starting February 1, 2016. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2016. Judging will take place in April, and winners will be announced in May.

The Contest is open to any Massachusetts high school student in grades 9-12.  Learn more HERE.

The contest is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts Citizen Education Fund with financial support from the Lincoln and Therese Filene Foundation and the Salem Five Charitable Foundation.
