Dear Editor,
On Sunday, October 25, 2015, the Wilmington Recreation Department sponsored the 48th Annual Horribles Parade. The seasonable weather allowed hundreds of children and their families to march from the Public Safety Building to the Wilmington High School Cafeteria where treats galore awaited all costumed children. To the delight of all, a fire truck and police escort led the way.
We estimate that approximately 550 children participated in this event. The success of an event of this size requires the support of many organizations within town. Volunteers from the Kiwanis Club, International Order of Odd Fellows Everett Lodge, Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks, Wilmington Community Fund, Wilmington Fourth of July Committee, Wilmington Sons of Italy and Wilmington High School among others, gave up their Sunday afternoon to decorate the cafeteria, distribute candy and treats, and in general help participants enjoy this Halloween tradition. Special thanks to UTZ for their welcome donation of holiday treats.
The annual support of the Wilmington Fire Fighters Association, Wilmington Fire Department, Wilmington Police Association, and the Wilmington Police Department makes this time-honored event possible.
I am grateful to everyone who helped to make this event an overwhelming success.
Sincerely yours,
Deborah Cipriani
Recreation Director
