Hundreds of Residents Enjoy “Sounds Like Frank” Concert At Wilmington Middle School

WILMINGTON, MA — The Sarah Carter Committee was thrilled by the large crowd which attended the Friday evening presentation entitled “Sounds Like Frank”. Sinatra fans eager to recapture their youth flocked into Wilmington’s Middle School auditorium in anticipation of the show.  They were not disappointed!   Lookin’ good in his tux, George Lyons was at the top of the heap, A #1.  He definitely had Sinatra’s style down pat as he performed all of Frank’s classics.   Tunes by Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, and Elvis were also highlighted.  We were even taken on the road again by Willie Nelson!   Tewksbury singer, Bobby G, was spotted in the audience and graciously sang two songs for the appreciative audience.

For 105 years, the Sarah Carter Committee has presented these programs free to the residents of Wilmington and surrounding towns.   As 2015 commemorates the 100th anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s birth, the Committee thought it appropriate to present a tribute to this musical icon.  We thank all who came out to support us.  Judging by the positive comments from those after the show, we know a good time was had by all.   We must note that the concert flowed smoothly; thanks to the help of the school’s custodial staff.

This year, a grant of financial support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council through the Wilmington Cultural Council assisted us in presenting this special concert.
