LIBRARY LINEUP: 9 FREE Programs This Week; Storytime Registration Now Open

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a listing of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked (RR). Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events

3D Printer Demo (RR)
Tuesday, October 13, 2:30 pm

Find out what 3D Printers are, how they work, and who uses them. Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, will demonstrate one in action.

Tuesday Night Craft: Journal Making (ages 16+, limit 12, cost $5.00)
Tuesday, October 13, 7 pm

Make your very own unlined journal. Decorate the cover using scrapbook paper or magazine pages.

Digital Security (RR)
Wednesday, October 14, 7pm

Are you uncomfortable putting personal information online because you doubt it will be safe? Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, will provide helpful tips on how to tell if your information is safe on any given webpage.

Nuts and Bolts of Assisted Living (RR)
Wednesday, October 14, 7 pm

Terri Marciello, Director of Elderly Services along with Michaela Keough, community outreach director for an assisted living facility will provide information on the types of assisted living such as, independent livings, assisted livings and memory care along with an explanation on the services that may be found in these types facilities.

Carrtunes Trio (RR)
Thursday, October 15, 2:30 pm

The Carrtunes Trio led by Donn Carr has been together since 1997 and plays together seamlessly. The trio is comprised of a keyboardist, drummer, and saxophonist, who sing vocals as well. This one hour afternoon concert will feature the music from the 40’s and 50’s.

Fiction Book Group (RR)
Thursday, October 15, 7pm

Enjoy reading fiction? Come to the library’s fiction book led by Adult Services Librarian, Kim Rowley. The book to be discussed is Saint Mazie by Jami Attenberg. Please call the library to order your copy. Book groups are a wonderful way to expand your reading interests and meet others in the community.

Registration Storytimes

Registration for the next storytime session is underway for the six week session beginning the week of November 2. Storytimes help build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading.  Babies, toddlers and preschool children will enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and more!

Art Adventures: Claude Monet (RR)

Create your own masterpieces in the style of Claude Monet’s water lily paintings. We’ll explore different forms of media and techniques to make one of a kind artwork for you to take home. Grades 1-3.

Crafternoons:  Halloween Miniature Shadowed Panorama (RR)
Thursday, October 15, 3:45 pm

Squeak! Creak! Eeek!  Bring your imagination and creativity to assemble a Halloween scene miniature shadowed panorama in a box!  (They don’t call them “shadow boxes” for nothing!) Grades 4-8.

Preschool Drop-In Storytime
Friday, October 16, 10 am

Drop in for stories, songs, rhymes and a fun craft! Ages: 2-5 and one or more adults.

Library Card Winner
The 115 new library card sign ups during September, National Library Card Sign Up Month were all entered into the drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.   Ryan Doherty is the winner!

Library Closed Columbus Day
Please note that the library will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observance of Columbus Day.
