Here are FIVE things to do today in Wilmington on Saturday, August 22, 2015.
#1) Burbank YMCA (36 Arthur B. Lord Drive, Reading), which is open to Wilmington residents, is holding a “Dog Swim” from 2pm-4:30pm. Dogs can swim in the Y’s small pools before its drained for its annual cleaning for a $25 donation. Learn more HERE.
#2) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less! Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
#3) The Wilmington Food Pantry (142 Chestnut Street) is open from 10am to noon for food donation drop-offs. Learn which food items the Pantry is most in need of HERE.
#4) Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers is holding sled hockey at Ristuccia Arena (190 Main Street) from 1pm to 3pm. “The sport of sled hockey enables youth and adults to play hockey sitting down and is played by athletes with spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, lower limb amputations, cerebral palsy and other lower body impairments. Massachusetts Sled Hockey Initiative sessions are open to friends and siblings who do not have disabilities to play on ice as well. Coaching and equipment are provided to participants in all sled hockey sessions. All ability levels, ranging from first-timers to experienced players are welcome and will be coached in small groups by expert professionals and volunteers.
