Wilmington’s Lou Cimaglia To Run 9K At Fenway Park To Support Veterans

WILMINGTON, MA — Lou Cimaglia, the SON of Wilmington Veterans Agent Lou Cimaglia, [edited, 7/9],  is participating in the 5th Annual Run To Home Base at Fenway Park on Sunday, July 25.

According to Cimaglia’s online donation page:

“The 2015 Run To Home Base presented by New Balance is a unique and special event that celebrates our military heroes and raises necessary funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program. The Home Base Program is committed to serving the needs of veterans with combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury and their families, but we need your support.

Your support to the Home Base Program will help to ensure that local veterans who served our country receive the clinical treatment they need for combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury, and that their families get the guidance and support they need. The Home Base Program also seeks to advance innovative treatments that hold the most potential for helping veterans with combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury and their families.”

The 9K begins on Yakey Way; goes up Boylston St., Mass Ave. and Memorial Drive and back; and ends by entering Fenway Park via Lansdowne Street and crossing home plate.

Cimaglia is hoping to raise $1,000 by race day.  Let’s help him out, Wilmington!  Make your tax-deductible online donation HERE.

(NOTE: I became aware of Cimaglia’s involvement in the race after reading this article in last week’s Town Crier.)

  1. As much as I would like to say I am running this race, it is not me that is running, it is my son Lou Cimaglia V. I am proud of Louie for supporting this worthy cause and I hope he raises much more then the $1,000 goal he set for himself. I have assisted many Veterans’ that have been involved with the Home Base program and everyone of them have received great care and the program has helped them dealing with PTSD/TBI. Please know that when you donate to the Run to Home Base Program your donation will be used to help many of our brave Warriors to re integrate from Military to Civilian life.
    PEACE
    Lou Cimaglia IV
(The Lou that is not running)
