WILMINGTON, MA — Besides the Sean Collier playground story (covered HERE yesterday) and the controversy surrounding the Finance Committee appointment process (which will be covered tomorrow), here are 10 things that happened at the Wilmington Board of Selectmen Meeting on Monday, June 22.
#1) Prior to the meeting, the Board of Selectmen met for approximately an hour in an Executive Session (meeting closed to the public) to discuss the potential purchase of the Ristuccia Arena. The Board did not discuss the issue during open session.

The application was approved on April 14; the closing took place on June 9; and the license fee was paid and license picked up on June 16. The store has not begun selling alcohol quite yet.
#6) Selectmen granted the request of Teresa Castellano to conduct a 5K Road Race on Sunday, October 11 in memory of Tony Alanardo, a popular resident who recently passed away. (Read his obituary HERE.) The race will have the same route as the We’re One Wilmington Run For Wilmington/Kim Forte Walk. Organizers are in the planning stages and still need to speak with the Alanardo family.
#7) Selectmen signed the Town Counsel’s Contract for Fiscal Year 2016 (July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016). The terms remain the same as Fiscal Year 2015 with no fee increase.
