Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries (May 16)

Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, May 16.

Girls Kindergarten games:

Portland Timbers vs. FC Kansas City
Proving they were also World Cup Competitors Emma Tarin scored for the FC Kansas City in this hard fought game. Madison Forbush and Jenna Giammarco added the offensive punch and Julianna Vitale and Shivani Sanariya held up the defense.

Sky Blue FC vs. Chicago Red Stars
On the other side of the ball for the Chicago Red Stars was an incredible offensive performance by Leah Hanafin, while goals scored by Isabella Goldstein got the Red Stars on the board. With a rock solid defensive stand led by Elizabeth Kulevich, the Red Stars were never out of this game. The midfield team of Emma Ebert & Sara Keck could only be classified as awesome.

Boys Kindergarten games:

Portland Timbers vs. NY Red Bulls
The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between Portland Timbers and NY Red Bulls commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Suraj Sanariya and Liam Zollner resulting in goals by Riley Caples and Jake Gryglik. The midfield and defensive play of Henry Santini and Caden Merritt kept the Timbers in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Jonathan Stokes made some spectacular saves.

Colorado Rapids vs. Houston Dynamo
The Colorado Rapids came out firing as league favorite scoring duo of Ryan Archer and Evan Walsh kept finding the back of the net once again. The team held their composure in the midfield as Cameron Molina and Frank Cain kept the Dynamo from advancing forward, while Maxwell Bagtaz and Viraj Patel limited the goal scoring opportunities to ensure another successful outing.

FC Dallas vs. Columbus Crew
Goals by Richard Holland and Cole Falk set the pace in this exciting game in front of a capacity crowd. Cooper O’Shea and Damian Dicenso played mid, while great saves from Ryan Constantine and Daniel Finn kept the game close.

LA Galaxy vs. Chicago Fire
The Chicago Fire would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Jonathan Malley and Xavier Rojas De Los Santos brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Brady and Jake Beldekas. In addition, the midfield play of Ryan Hudd kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.

Girls Grade 1 games:

Sky Blue vs. Red Stars
The RedStars defensive stand, led by Maddie Gryglik and Makayla Cella, not only struck fear in the HOMETEAM, but will be feared by future opponents as well. It was this team defense that led to counter attacks by Maria McCarthy and Madelyn Oatis, ultimately leading to goals scored by Ali McElligott. Timely defense by all helped strengthen a solid team effort.

Portland Thorns vs. FC Kanas City
Proving they were also World Cup competitors Summer Sands scored for the FC Kansas City in this hard fought game. Arianna Fasulo added some more offense while Samantha Crowley and Giselle Olatilu held up the defensive side of the ball

Houston Dash vs. Boston Breakers
Nobody stayed home for this action packed game. The Houston Dash’s Ella O’Connell and Abigail Howie scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Ava Noble and Maeve Doherty set up many scoring chances. The flawless defense of Sadie Winchell, Isabella Rogers, Zoey Helbert, and Skylar Nguyen provided great protection for the Goal Keepers.

Boys Grade 1 games:

Chicago Fire vs. Portland Timbers
The Chicago Fire also impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Nicolas Spinosa and Dominic Dicenso leading to goals by Adam Veliz And Owen Fitzpatrick. The defense showcased their skills today with Derek Mulik and Tyler Mathew keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game.

The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Portland Timbers led by Reiley Young, Aiden Largenton and Ryan Belanger got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Logan Tautkus led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Beckett Rosner, Jonas Arulraj and Gavin Burke kept the action going.

Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy
The Sounders would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Adam Brueggman, John Mehr and Colin Dwyer brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Gavin Churchill which allowed the midfield play to keep constant pressure on the opponent’s net.

Colorado Rapids vs. NY Red Bulls
The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Colorado Rapids led by Matthew Driscoll and Dylan Grace got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Guy Jackson and Ethan Afthim led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Cameron Thompson kept the action going.

Proving they were also World Cup Competitors Isaac Tavares and Dennis Desouza scored for the New York Red Bulls in this hard fought game. Alexander D’Anna, Dennis Desouza, Isaac Tavares and Kevin Pruslin added the offensive punch and Dennis Dennis Desouza and Alexander D’anna held up the defense. It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Isaac Tavares and Kevin Pruslin.

Girls Grade 2 games:

Boston Breakers vs. Portland Thorns
The Boston Breakers was also impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Alyssa Costantiello and Vivien Savoie leading to goals by Gracie Berrier, Callie Mccauley and Celia Vindice. The defense showcased their skills today with Sydney MacPherson, Alexandra Quick, and Kimberly Kane keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game; while the goal keeping team of Alyssa Costantiello, Vivien Savoie, and Celia Vindice, to name a few that served in goal, helped strengthen a solid team effort.

The Houston Dash’s defensive stand, led by Nikki Clarke, Arianna Cook and Kiley Bloom, not only struck fear in the Portland Thorns but will be feared by future opponents as well. It was this team defense that led to counter attacks by Natalie Moretti, Molly Lydon and Isabella Hart, ultimately leading to goals scored by Skylar Driscoll and Alexandra Malley. Timely saves by Elanor Ragsdale and Kiley Bloom helped strengthen a solid team effort.

Chicago Red Stars vs. Houston Dash
The air was full of excitement as the much-anticipated match between the CHIGACO RED STARS and HOUSTON DASH commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Allesandra Delgenio resulting in an outstanding goal by Addyson Hunt. The midfield and defensive play of Madeline Long and Kylie Plowman kept the CHIGACO RED STARS in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Kyra Turner and Delaney Ward made some spectacular saves in goal for the CHIGACO RED STARS. Great day on the field today girls!

Boys Grade 2 games:

NE Revolution vs. LA Galaxy
The NE Revolution took on the LA Galaxy in a great and exciting game. Spencer Bagtaz and Tommy Lewis electrified the crowd with great goal scoring opportunities, while Tyler Marinho and Corey Taylor manned the net with outstanding saves. The defensive efforts of Kaleb Molina and PJ MacMahon kept the Galaxy in check, while Patrick Mailet disruptive and constant pressure kept the game close at hand.
