WILMINGTON, MA — Here are FIVE things that happened at last night’s very short Wilmington School Committee Meeting.
#1) Chairwoman Peggy Kane, Vice Chair Ginny Bonish and Secretary Julie Broussard were all unanimously re-elected to their positions during the Committee’s annual reorganization.
#2) School Committee members reviewed their subcommittee assignments.

- School Committee Representative to the School Wellness Advisory Committee: Kathleen Carroll

Chairwoman Kane also appointed Steve Bjork and Kathleen Carroll to the district’s collective bargaining team as it enters into negotiations with the Administrative Assistants union.
The School Committee will no longer have representatives to the Technology Task Force. The Task Force will become more of an “internal” group that will fall under Superintendent Mary DeLai’s purview and will consist solely of educators and administrators.
#3) Under her report, Superintendent Mary DeLai reviewed the dates, times and locations of some of the upcoming end-of-the-school-year functions.

DeLai reported that the Senior Prom on Friday, May 1 was a “great success” with “no incidents.” DeLai also congratulated Erin Burke, Shawsheen Assistant Principal, and Jennifer White, the district’s Data and Assessment Specialist, both of whom recently had baby boys.
#4) Under a Personnel Report, Director of School Administration and Finance Paul Ruggiero reported that Special Education Kindergarten Teacher Jessica Feist resigned and March. Teacher Erin Gibson has been brought in to replace her.
#5) Under a Revolving Account Report, Director of School Administration and Finance Paul Ruggiero summarized that there were “no issues” and each account will be “in the black” by the end of the fiscal year.
Et Cetera: The meeting lasted only 25 minutes — the shortest School Committee meeting in recent memory. All members were present except Manny Mulas. The School Committee will next meet on Wednesday, May 27 at 7pm.
