Here are FIVE things to do today in (or around) Wilmington on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
#2) The Wilmington Recreation Commission is meeting at 5pm at Town Hall (Room 8). Read the agenda HERE. (Wilmington Apple hosts to be there!)
#3) The Wilmington Senior Center is running its usual slate of Thursday activities — Walking Group at 9am; Art Clas at 10am; Aerobics at 10:30am; and Game Day at 1pm. In addition, the Delvena Theatre Company will be running a production of “The Funniest Woman EVER!” at 1pm. Click HERE for more information.
#4) The Wilmington Memorial Library is hosting a lecture, “Early Transportation Canals of the Merrimack Valley” at 7pm. “This presentation by Bill Gerber, who is on the Board of Directors of the Middlesex Canal Association and a past president, will provide an overview of the Merrimack River as an artery of transportation and show and describe what remains of the system today. Before they were adapted to power New England mills, the falls and rapids of the Merrimack River were serious obstructions to travel. These impediments, and the absence of good roads, drove more than a decade of efforts to improve river navigability.” Register HERE.
#5) Cheer on some Wildcats without leaving town! The WHS Girls Tennis team competes against Wakefield at 3:30pm at Textron Courts, while WHS Softball battles Melrose at 6pm at Town Park on Route 38.
