Mabel M. (Sylvester) Daley, age 83, of Wilmington, died peacefully on March 28, 2015, at the Winchester Hospital.
Mabel was born on March 15, 1932, in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Warren S. and Annabelle (Stacey) Sylvester. Mabel was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School.
Mabel met and fell in love with John E. Daley at Jordan Marsh Company in Boston where they were both working at the time. The couple married and resided in Somerville for a few years before settling in Wilmington in 1963 where they raised three wonderful children; Theresa Ann, Edward, and Walter. Mabel was a wonderful mother and homemaker; her family was always her first priority and in her later years she enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Mabel took much pride in her home, inside and out; she would often be found tending to her many flower gardens around her yard, it always looked beautiful.
Mabel was an active member of the Wilmington Senior Center; for many years where she enjoyed attending their exercise classes and their social activities. Mabel was always willing to give her time to drive other seniors around; whether it was a ride to doctor’s appointment, grocery shopping, or any other errand, she never minded helping.
Mabel’s beliefs and faith were very strong; she was very involved in the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Wilmington for many years. Mabel loved helping others and through her involvement with Kingdom Hall she was able to do just that.
Mabel will be fondly remembered for her acts of kindness and caring towards others; she was quiet, gentle, and full of love. Mabel will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.
Mabel was the beloved wife of the late John E. Daley, devoted mother of Edward “Ted” Daley & his wife Donna of Wilmington, Walter Daley of Stoneham, and the late Theresa Ann Daley, loving grandmother of Kerri Lyn Russell, Ryan, Corey, and Matthew Daley, and great-grandchildren Riley and Madison, cherished daughter of the late Warren and Annabelle (Stacey) Sylvester, dear sister of Donald Sylvester of Florida, the late John, Walter, and Warren Sylvester, Dorothy Robarts, Marie Pethick, and Marjorie Garrett. Mabel is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, April 1st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Graveside service will take place in Wildwood Cemetery on Thursday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Mabel’s memory may be made to Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 1 Bridge Lane, Wilmington, MA 01887.
