STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Wilmington’s Geoffrey Cavanaugh Named ‘Senior Of The Month’ At Shawsheen Tech

BILLERICA, MA — Shawsheen Valley Technical High School proudly announces its distinguished seniors of the month for semester two. This initiative underscores the school’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating exceptional students, all of whom will receive special commendation from The Billerica Lodge of Elks. Furthermore, these seniors represent the finalists competing for the ‘Senior of the Year’ accolade, which will be announced during an awards celebration on May 19.

The Senior of the Month program spotlights two outstanding seniors each month who exemplify specific criteria. These criteria include character, leadership, citizenship, service to the school and community, scholastic achievement, and vocational competencies. Honored for their remarkable contributions to their class and Shawsheen Tech, these students are chosen with the expectation that they will become exemplary alumni, leaving a positive lasting impact on the community beyond graduation.

GEOFFREY CAVANAUGH, of Wilmington, was named a Senior of the Month for April 2024.

Geoffrey, enrolled in Shawsheen’s medical assisting program, is deeply committed to community service, actively participating in various initiatives. He serves as a third rider for Action Ambulance and is dedicated to helping Wilmington Fire Department with their annual Toys for Tots Drive.

In addition to his volunteer work, Geoffrey is highly engaged within his community and school. He’s been an integral part of Shawsheen’s activities, including serving on yearbook club during his junior and senior years, managing the varsity boys basketball team, and leading as an orientation leader. Notably, he is also a United States Naval Sea Cadet.

Balancing his academic pursuits with community involvement, Geoffrey also works per diem for funeral homes, where he contributes his expertise to entry-level medical analyses.

Looking ahead, Geoffrey will be attending a 4-year university, where he plans to pursue a major in psychology or pre-med. With a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to his studies and community, Geoffrey is self-assured and eager to continue making a positive impact.
