Abundant Life’s 8th Grade Class Visits Washington DC

Below is a press release from Abundant Life:

WILMINGTON, MA — From April 2nd through April 5th, the Abundant Life Christian School 8th grade class flew down to Washington, D.C. for its annual class trip. The visit gave students the opportunity to wrap up their year-long study of our nation’s history in the beauty of our nation’s capital. The two chaperones and twelve students stayed in Washington, D.C. and took the metro to travel around the city visiting major attractions. A rainy morning could not dampen students’ excitement to tour the White House and its Oval office.

During visits to the memorial monuments (including Jefferson, Korean, Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr, Roosevelt and Vietnam), students took some time to pray and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served, ensuring the values of freedom and democracy we enjoy today would endure. Their trip also included visits to Arlington National Cemetery, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Smithsonian Museum, the United States Capitol, and the Washington Monument.

Isabellah Pollini, from Wilmington, enjoyed riding the Metro around the city and Avery King, also from Wilmington, appreciated “hanging out on the National Mall to watch the sun set.” 8th-grader Charles Chioccariello, from Wilmington, said, “I liked spending so much time with my classmates outside of school, seeing historical sites, and taking in the government buildings,” while Burlington resident Collin Root enjoyed “hanging out with my class and seeing the monuments up close. I most enjoyed the U.S. Capitol and the Vietnam Wall.”

Students took countless pictures and averaged 20,000 steps, or 9 miles walked each day of the trip. Thank you to chaperones Mr. Russell Glines and Mrs. Linnea Molgard for planning and leading the students on their trip, as well as US Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire for helping to arrange the tour of the Capitol Building for our students.
