LIBRARY LINEUP: Library Now Has Lawn Games To Borrow

Want to play Bocce?
If you are having a cookout on Memorial Day, you may want to borrow one of the library’s lawn games. Bocce, Croquet, Horseshoes and a Ring Toss are now available for checkout.  These games can be borrowed for one week.

Tuskegee Airmen
Tuesday, May 26, 7 pm

Members of the Col. Charles McGee Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen from Hanscom Air Force Base will present a program on the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. The Tuskegee airmen were the first black servicemen to serve as military aviators in the U.S. armed forces. Tuskegee Airman, Lieutenant Colonel Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse II (Ret.), who was commissioned in 1946, will be in attendance.  He was one of the first black graduates of Yale in the 1950s, one of the first black Judge Advocates General in the U.S. Air Force, and the first black member of the 371-year-old Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.

Nonfiction Book Group (RR)
Wednesday, May 27, 7 pm
Join Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, who will lead the discussion of “The World’s Strongest Librarian” by Joshua Hanagarne in honor of Mental Health Month.  Copies of the book may be requested online through the catalog or by calling the library. Book groups are a wonderful way to expand your reading interests and meet others in the community. All are welcome; refreshments served.

Boston Bronze & Stone Speak to Us (RR)

Joe Gallo realized as he walked the streets of Boston that he didn’t know much about the monuments he came across so he decided to do something about it.  Gallo’s comprehensive guide, “Boston Bronze & Stone Speak to Us”, is now very much a reality.  In college, Gallo minored in history and art which he put to use while doing research for the book. During this slideshow presentation, Mr. Gallo will make history come alive while sharing stories of Boston’s monuments.  Copies of the guidebook will be for sale ($10) before and after the program.

Social Security—What You Need to Know (RR)
Thursday, June 4, 6:30pm
Sheila E. Smith, CFPR, will discuss Social Security benefits: when to file, the advantages of delaying benefits, little-known strategies to maximize this pension, the impact when you continue to work, spousal benefits, eligibility if you are divorced or widowed and how to minimize taxation of benefits.  Presented in conjunction with the Wilmington Recreation Department.

LEGO Building

Build a unique LEGO creation.  Each month there will be a different theme.  Kindergarten+

Star Mag Party

Anyone who has contributed to Star Mag this year is invited to a year-end party!  Grades 3-5.

Holiday Hours
The library will be closed on Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

FAX and Scanning Available
Do you need to FAX a document? The library has a FAX service available. The cost is $1.75 for first page and $1.00 for each additional page if faxing within the United States. Credit card or debit card is needed to use this service. The library’s copy machine has scanning capability. No charge to scan and email a document.
