Below is an announcement from the Wilmington DPW:
WILMINGTON, MA — The Department of Public Works Water Division will be working with Biszko Corporation to execute a cleaning and lining of the water main on Forest Street. The contractor anticipates mobilization the week of April 20th 2026, and completing the project by the end of July 2026.
The work consists of cleaning and cement mortar lining approximately 4,200 linear feet of 8-inch diameter water main from Aldrich Rd to Burlington Ave (Rt 62) along Forest Street. This watermain rehabilitation work will improve both water quality and flow to area residents. The project will also include additional system improvements along the project extents, such as the removal and replacement of hydrants, hydrant branches and valves, installation of water main to side streets, and the reinstatement of water services.
Because the watermain will need to be shut down during construction, a bypass water system will be installed along each side of Forest Street (at the surface) to temporarily provide water service to each affected resident. The water in the bypass pipe is safe to drink. Temporary water service piping at driveway entrances will be covered with a temporary asphalt or rubber ramp. At street crossings, the pipes will be buried below ground. There will also be smaller hoses connecting the bypass pipe to your home.
Minor traffic delays should be expected with some sections of work requiring a single lane closure and alternating traffic around the immediate work zone; however, area residents and local businesses will maintain access to their properties throughout construction. Emergency vehicles and school buses will also have access through the work zone. We ask that everyone please obey the directives of police details and warning signage during this operation.
If you have any questions, please contact the DPW’s Water Division at 978-658-4711.
