OBITUARY: Robert “Buddy” E. Molyneaux, 80

WILMINGTON, MA — Robert E. Molyneaux, fondly known as “Buddy”, age 80, of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at Winchester Hospital.

Born on August 19, 1945, in Stoneham, MA, Buddy was the dear son of the late David and Mary (Spencer) Molyneaux. He was raised and educated in Medford and proudly graduated from Medford High School.

In July of 1966, Buddy enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served overseas in Germany as a supervisor with the Military Police for more than three years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged from active duty in July of 1970 and continued to serve his country in the Air Force Reserves until July of 1972.

Buddy moved to Wilmington nearly twenty years ago and worked for many years at the Wilmington Cold Storage Facility before retiring. A dedicated sports fan, Buddy loved watching the New England Patriots and attending Boston Red Sox games. He also enjoyed college football, especially cheering on his favorite team, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Known for his quiet and kind nature, Buddy found great joy in the companionship of his faithful Golden Retriever, “Alaska.” He valued spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors at Deming Way, always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Buddy was the beloved brother of Gary Molyneaux and his wife Janice of Centerville, MA. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings David Molyneaux and his wife Joan, Roy Molyneaux, Jill Capodilupo and her husband Ray. He is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews, was very special to the Valenti family, and will be deeply missed by numerous neighbors and friends.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held in the Veterans Section of Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, April 15th, at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Buddy’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
