Wilmington Residents,
On April 25, our town has the opportunity and privilege to re-elect two individuals who have served on our School Committee in good faith. As a proud WHS graduate and a sibling of a current WHS student, I remain familiar with the School Committee’s current initiatives and challenges. I am pleased to recommend the following candidates and hope you will join me in voting for them in this upcoming election:
Jenn Bryson has embodied the true spirit of Wilmington through her nine years of service on the School Committee. As an educator, she has consistently advocated for our district’s most vulnerable students. I was especially impressed with how she oversaw the months-long superintendent search—from vetting candidates to leading a thorough and transparent interview process that was both accessible and engaging to the community. Jenn works cohesively with her colleagues and has built strong relationships across town boards and departments. She has been a tremendous asset to our community and will continue guiding the School Committee in the right direction.
Michael Mercaldi’s first term on the School Committee has been defined by significant change, including leadership transitions, approval of a new Pre-K–5 school, and ongoing budget challenges. He has helped advance key initiatives such as improving bus services and developing the district’s Strategic Vision to expand career pathway education. Michael also played an important role in the superintendent hiring process, applying his private-sector experience to help identify strong candidates. It has been rewarding to see his growth on the committee, and I hope he has the opportunity to continue serving for another three years.
Wilmington has always made education a high priority. I believed this as a WPS student, and I remain confident in that belief today. I thank Jenn and Michael for running again, and I look forward to their continued service on our School Committee.
