Dear Wilmington friends and neighbors:
I’m writing to encourage you to reelect Mike Mercaldi to the Wilmington School Committee at the upcoming town election on April 25. Mike’s character, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to Wilmington students make him an excellent school committee member.
Long before he ran for school committee, Mike was volunteering his time with PAWS (Parent/Guardian Advocates for Wilmington Schools), our district-wide parent group. Then when the school committee had a vacancy that no one else was willing to fill, he stepped up to run for that seat. That’s what Mike Mercaldi does — he steps up, he shows up, he volunteers, and then he serves with excellence.
Mike has two daughters in Wilmington Public Schools, but he works to make WPS better for all its students. He brings a sharp, problem-solving perspective, honed from his years working as a biopharmaceutical engineer. He asks incisive questions and keeps the committee focused on student achievement and overall student well-being — the two most important things our district strives for.
Mike was a powerful advocate for the new elementary school project and for the district’s strategic plan. He has helped negotiate contracts with unions and with the superintendent. He pushes for responsible budgets and for increased community outreach. In short, Mike Mercaldi is an outstanding school committee member and has earned the opportunity to represent Wilmington families with a second term on the school committee.
I encourage everyone to cast a vote for Mike Mercaldi for school committee on April 25.
