Below is a press release from the Reading Municipal Light Department:
READING, MA – Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) honored 30 local fourth-grade students in an awards ceremony on March 25, 2026. Students from nine elementary schools in Reading, Wilmington, and Lynnfield were celebrated for their winning entries into RMLD’s 2026 Elementary Art Contest. Students were welcomed by RMLD General Manager Jason Small, and awards were presented by Board of Commissioners Chair Pam Daskalakis and Citizens’ Advisory Board Member Bob Kasle.
For the contest, fourth-grade students were asked to create posters demonstrating their knowledge of topics presented in an educational video produced by RMLD. The video focuses on electrical safety, how electricity gets to the home, and the relationship between electricity and the environment. Three winners were selected from each participating school based on the artwork and message. Winners were recognized at the award ceremony, and each received a gift card prize.
In recognition of the efforts of local schools, teachers, and administrators in implementing the contest, each participating school was awarded a gift certificate for art supplies. RMLD thanks the teachers and faculty for their continued partnership in this important educational initiative.
