LETTER: Dr. Jennifer Bryson Is A Tireless Champion For Our Schools & Students, Deserves Re-Election To Wilmington School Committee

To the Editor,

As Wilmington prepares for the upcoming School Committee election on April 25, I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Jennifer Bryson for re-election. Jenn brings a unique combination of expertise, experience and commitment to this role, and Wilmington is very fortunate to have such an effective and qualified candidate running for another term.

Jenn’s track record demonstrates the immense value she brings to the School Committee, most notably her:

Professional Expertise In her role as a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Elementary Education program at Boston University, Jenn is a “teacher of teachers.” She is a leading voice in literacy education, utilizing data-driven research to prepare the next generation of educators. On the School Committee, she translates this expertise into evidence-based decisions, ensuring our district’s curriculum and policies are rooted in what actually helps children learn.

Hands-on Experience with Students: What truly sets Jenn apart is that she remains deeply “in the trenches.” I have seen her in action as a literacy specialist and tutor, where she moves beyond policy and theory to student-centered support. She has a remarkable gift for assessing a child’s unique strengths and challenges, centering their interests and goals, and becoming a trusted advisor who helps them grow both academically and personally. Jenn is also an active community member and parent – leading a summer Reading and Writing Summer Workshop for elementary students and serving as an organizer for WHS booster clubs. She is kind, engaged, and invested in every student that crosses her path, which is evident in the reception she receives from students anywhere around town.

Proven Tenure of Achievement: Since joining the committee in 2017, and serving four years as Chair, Jenn has been a steady and thoughtful leader. As part of the committee, she has partnered and supported new district leadership, stewarded the development and implementation of WPS strategic planning, and prioritized student needs through universal screenings and early identification for dyslexia.

Inclusive and Thoughtful Approach: In addition to her expertise and experience, Jenn encourages diverse perspectives and discourse to make informed decisions for our district. She makes herself available as a resource to parents and community members, helping families navigate the school district and providing vital context when policies are complex or controversial.

Child-Centered Leadership: Throughout the challenges of the pandemic, school building projects, and shifting mandates, Jenn has always placed what is best for the kids at the center of the conversation. Always and without exception.

I am so grateful that Jenn offers her talents and time to public service. She is a tireless champion for our schools and our children, and Wilmington is so fortunate to have her. Please join me in voting for Dr. Jennifer Bryson on April 25.

Sincerely,

Barb & Danny Beaudoin
