WILMINGTON, MA — Sivakumar Mallaiyasamy has announced his candidacy for the Wilmington Select Board in the upcoming town election.
A Wilmington resident for over 20 years, Mallaiyasamy is a technology professional who, along with his wife—a school teacher—raised two sons through the Wilmington Public Schools. One now attends medical school, while the other studies computer science at Georgia Tech.
“Wilmington has given my family so much, and I’m running to give back,” said Mallaiyasamy. “I believe in smart leadership, responsible government, and building a strong community.”
Mallaiyasamy has also served the community for more than a decade through Tamil Makkal Mandram, including as secretary, vice president, and president, bringing people together and supporting local initiatives.
He said Wilmington is at a critical point, facing budget pressures, development decisions, and the need to plan for the future while protecting residents.
A key focus of his campaign is supporting seniors, including addressing senior living and responsible growth.
“Many longtime residents are facing rising costs and limited housing options,” said Mallaiyasamy. “We need to ensure seniors can remain in Wilmington with affordable, accessible living options and the support they need.”
If elected, Mallaiyasamy’s priorities include:
— Smart, data-driven leadership
— Fiscal responsibility and transparency
— Senior living and housing solutions
— Thoughtful, balanced development
— Open communication with residents
“Good leadership starts with listening,” he said. “I want to bring people together and make decisions that reflect the best interests of Wilmington.”
The Wilmington Town Election will take place on April 25th 2026. Mallaiyasamy respectfully asks for the support and vote of residents.
