CANDIDATE ANNOUCEMENT: Gary DePalma Announces Re-Election Campaign For Select Board

Dear Editor and Wilmington voters,

My name is Gary DePalma, and I humbly ask for your vote in the April 25th Town Election as a candidate for reelection to the Select Board.

In my time on the Select Board, I have always prioritized the safety and success of the people in our community.

I supported our new Senior Center project because the seniors in our community matter.

I fought for a new emergency stop light at the public safety building, and worked with our State Representative to acquire funds for a drone search and rescue system for our police department.

When the residents in the area around Nichols Street looked to the Select Board for help to fight a developer building a project inappropriate for their neighborhood, I had their backs.

There are some very important issues for the town to face in the coming years – and some major opportunities.

If reelected, I will continue to support the Economic Development Committee’s work to encourage growth in our business community. I supported updating our alcohol bylaws to support our restaurants and attract new businesses to town.

If reelected, I will continue to support a Public Safety substation for the North side of town, where people deserve the same level of safety as other neighborhoods get.

If reelected, I will continue to look ahead at the budget challenges our town faces. We need to see the town work in concert with the business community to find ways to increase revenues without adding to our tax bills. We need to control growing costs like rubbish removal and explore public-private partnerships supporting both businesses and residents.

As one of your elected Select Board members, I listen to your perspectives and opinions. There will always be times that we disagree, but most importantly, I look at what things cost and ask, “Does it benefit the town and, most importantly, the residents?”

There is so much more for us to accomplish as a community, and I ask for your vote on or before Saturday, April 25, to continue that work. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Gary DePalma
