Wilmington Native Killed In Hit & Run In Rhode Island, Police Asking For Public’s Help In Locating Vehicle

WILMINGTON, MA — A Wilmington native was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:35am on Corliss Street in Providence, Rhode Island.

Kevin Michael Chappie, 46, was originally from Wilmington. He later made his home in Rhode Island.

Chappie was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Rae Chappie. He is survived by siblings and extended family members.

The Providence Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. The vehicle is a black Chevrolet Equinox with Alloy wheels. Partial Massachusetts license plate is “4 GN.”
