OBITUARY: Betty (Ellis) Wolfe, 91, Co-Founder Of Wolfe Real Estate

WILMINGTON, MA — Betty (Ellis) Wolfe, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026.

Betty was born on January 19, 1935, in Melrose, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Charles and Eurilla (McNaught) Ellis. Betty was raised and educated in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School.

Betty met the love of her life, Bill Wolfe, while working at Chas. T. Main in Boston, and the two were inseparable from that day forward. They married in 1964 and soon began building a family together. Betty and Bill shared 55 years of unconditional love, partnership, and countless cherished memories.

While raising five children and caring for many animals over the years, Betty and Bill founded Wolfe Real Estate in Wilmington. Together they built one of the town’s most respected real estate companies, helping welcome hundreds of families to the Wilmington community. Betty was deeply devoted to her family and treasured the many memories they made together at Lake Ossipee and Waterville Valley.

Betty was also a lifelong animal lover. Over the years she rescued and cared for many cats and always made sure no animal around her ever went hungry.

A passionate Boston sports fan, Betty especially loved her Boston Bruins and rarely missed a game. Whether cheering from home or talking hockey with friends and family, her enthusiasm for the Bruins was just one of the many things that brought joy to those around her.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Wolfe, devoted mother of Robert Trites & his wife Lynn of Elma, NY, Melissa Wolfe, Laurie (Wolfe) McHugh & her husband Tommy, William C. Wolfe, Carolyn (Wolfe) Giroux & her husband John, all of Wilmington, loving “Nanny” of Jillian, Amanda, Patrick, Taylor, Brian, Shannon, Joey, Samantha, Shelby, Shawn, Steven, Brandon and Dalton, great-grandmother of Ayden, Lilah, Sophia, Mason, Rylee, Molly, Emma and Lillian. Dear sister of the late Claude Ellis & his late wife Mae of Farmington Maine.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Thursday, March 19th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by a Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
