OBITUARY: Roger W. Quandt, 91

HAMPTON, NH — Roger W. Quandt, 91, of Hampton, NH passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was born in Wilmington, Massachusetts, on September 4, 1934, a son of the late Alexander and Mary (Hutchins) Quandt. At the time of his passing, he had shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marcella “Marcy” (Praetz) Quandt.

Raised in Wilmington, Roger graduated from Wilmington High School, Class of 1952. After working for a time in Wilmington, he joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served his country honorably for four years before returning home. Roger worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and at Woburn Hose in Cambridge, Massachusetts before retiring from Itek/Litton after 30 years as a data analyst. He continued with part time jobs at Houghton Mifflin Publishing and HR Block until 2000 when he and Marcy moved to Hampton to enjoy life.

Roger met Marcy on a blind date in 1965, a meeting that would lead to a lifetime of love, partnership, and two sons.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and growing vegetables. For many years, the Quandt family gathered for snowmobile adventures during the winter. In summer, he spent time with the Praetz family on the ocean and the Quandts in the Lakes Regions or Plum Island. He transformed the house and yard and was happiest outdoors. He also enjoyed following Boston sports. He had a tandem skydive, certified scuba diving, snow skiing, and was captain of his boats.

Roger is survived by his wife, Marcy; his son, Roger Quandt Jr; his brothers, Al Quandt and his wife Barbara, Robert Quandt and his wife Janice; and his sister, Mary Rexford and her husband Jim.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Paul Quandt; his sisters, Janice Quandt, Jacqueline Grinley and her husband Edward, Kathleen Blackburn and her husband Jay; his sisters-in-law, Anna Pierce and her husband Jack, Helen Dehm and her husband Roy; and his sister-in-law Shirley L Quandt.

Visitation will be held from 12PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, followed immediately by a prayer service. An additional period of visitation will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Tuesday, March 10 at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, Massachusetts 01887 followed by a burial at Wilmington Cemetery.
