Below is a press release from State Senator Barry Finegold’s Office. Finegold’s district includes Wilmington:
BOSTON, MA — State Senator Barry Finegold and colleagues in the Senate recently passed the BRIGHT Act, a $3.28 billion bond bill that supports students’ access to modernized infrastructure and facilities at Massachusetts’ public colleges and universities.
Senator Finegold filed two amendments:
The first amendment provides funding for educational facilities at Northern Essex Community College. This would help NECC expand access to postsecondary education, increase enrollment capacity, and make it more affordable.
The second amendment funds geothermal technology at Middlesex Community College’s Lowell campus, upgrades to the Cowan Center, and general infrastructure improvements. The late Senator Ed Kennedy was a longtime champion of Middlesex Community College and had filed similar initiatives in past years.
“Public higher education provides invaluable advantages to students, businesses, and our communities. These investments strengthen opportunity here in Massachusetts,” said Senator Barry Finegold
