GROVELAND, MA — Normand L. Darsney, 95, of Groveland, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Haverhill Crossings Assisted Living surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Soroka) Darsney.
Normand was born on June 8, 1930, in Lynn, MA and was the son of the late James and Olive (Adrien) Darsney. He grew up and went to school in Lynn. After graduating from Lynn Classical High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps where as a sergeant he supervised the motor pool.
Upon completing his term of service in the Marines, he entered the General Electric Apprentice Program where he graduated in 1956. He continued his education at Boston University (Class of 1960) and Boston College (MBA 1963). Normand had a lengthy and distinguished career at General Electric Aircraft Engine in Lynn. He was a pioneer in information systems and taught in the GE after hours training program. After 32 years at General Electric, he left as the Director of Manufacturing Systems to take a position at Avco Missile Systems Division in Wilmington. Ten years later he left Avco and founded his own consulting company.
Normand was an avid golfer who loved spending time on the golf course with friends and colleagues. Along with Marie, he would spend winters in The Villages in Florida where he could enjoy golf and the warm weather. He also enjoyed working on cars and was known to be able to fix almost anything.
Above all else, Normand’s greatest love was his family. He was a loving husband and a proud and dedicated father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being a part of the lives of his grandchildren. He was especially proud that his first great-grandchild is expected soon. Normand will be remembered for his life of service, his work ethic, and his strong moral compass.
In addition to his wife Marie and her family, Normand is survived by his son Kevin P. Darsney and his wife Linda of Rowley; his daughter Dr. Christine A. Darsney of Westwood; his sister Geraldine Boberg of Villa Hills, KY; his grandchildren Shawn Darsney, Kerstin (Darsney) Donovan, and Zane Rahabi. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Darsney and his first wife of 43 years Pauline Darsney.
Visiting hours were held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial was at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Normand’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association by visiting http://www.alz.org.
