OBITUARY: Jean M. (Driscoll) George, 83

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

Jean Marie George (Driscoll), age 83, a longtime resident of Wilmington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 1, 2026.

Jean was born in South Boston, Massachusetts, on January 15, 1943, and was the cherished daughter of the late John J. and Stella A. (Shertick) Driscoll, whom she adored. She was raised in “Southie” in a close-knit and loving home alongside her beloved brother and sister, John and Patricia, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Jean was a proud graduate of South Boston High School.

In 1966, Jean married her soulmate and best friend, Robert “Bob” George. Together they shared more than 57 wonderful years of marriage, raising a beautiful family and later being blessed with a dozen grandchildren whom they loved, cherished, and happily spoiled.

In 1975, Jean and Bob moved to Wilmington, where they created a warm and welcoming home filled with love and countless treasured memories. Jean loved being a stay-at-home mom to her five children. She attended every event—sports games, Brownies, Girl Scouts, and baseball games—never missing a moment and always serving as their biggest cheerleader. Even with her busy schedule, Jean found time to volunteer in her children’s classrooms.

Jean proudly did “double duty” as both mom and dad while supporting Bob as he attended Northeastern University at night to earn his degree and during the many times his work required travel. She consistently showered her family with unconditional love, encouragement, and support, always urging them to do their very best.

Jean’s home had an open-door policy—family and friends were always welcome. She was the ultimate hostess, cook, and baker, with dinner faithfully on the table at 5:00 sharp. Many were lucky enough to enjoy her favorite recipes, especially her beloved apple pie and pumpkin breads. Jean loved entertaining and was known for hosting many famous and fun cookouts and pool parties throughout the years.

A natural caregiver at heart, Jean later opened a home daycare, caring for children with kindness, patience, and love. Many of her “daycare kids” remained close to her throughout the years, keeping in touch with phone calls, cards, and photos as they grew and built families of their own.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed arts and crafts and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. She also cherished card nights with the George family, where laughter and good times were always guaranteed.

Jean and Bob were truly “two peas in a pod.” They loved spending time with family and friends, doting on their grandchildren, and watching their beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. They were devoted Elvis fans who could recite every song, attended several concerts, and even enjoyed seeing the Elvis movie together.

Jean will be fondly remembered as a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She was a woman of strong faith with a heart of gold—an incredible caregiver, a wonderful listener, and a true friend to many. Jean cherished her family deeply and was immensely proud of them. She will forever live on in their hearts.

Jean was the beloved wife of Robert A. “Bob” George; devoted mother of her daughters Kimberly Conroy and her husband Robert of Pelham, NH, and Jeanne Hollins and her husband Daniel of Haverhill, MA; and her sons Michael George and his wife Miriam of Hudson, MA, Thomas George and his fiancée Sarah Parker of West Roxbury, MA, and Robert “Rob” George, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Saugus, MA. She was the loving “Nana” of Dylan, Lydia, Nicholas and his wife Samantha, Corey and his longtime girlfriend Rachel, Scott, Annabella, Maximilian, Mateus and his wife Larissa, Nathan, Gabriella, Ariana & her fiancé Jake, Zachary, and great-granddaughter Cecilia. She was the dear sister of the late Patricia Feeney and her late husband Frank, and the late John Driscoll. Jean is also survived by many special brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, February 6, from 9:00–10:45 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460.
