Below is an announcement from Wilmington Community Television’s “Book Stew:”
Hello, fellow sufferers! In lieu of (yawn) hearts and valentines, I offer the warmth of the February Book Stew episode. I chortled at Things I Want Back From You, a collection of occasionally silly linked short stories by Elizabeth Stix. North of San Francisco in the fictional community of San Encanto, you’ll find maps, drawings of chickens and alligators, and get to know the four families in a cul-de-sac whose members collide like bumper cars over the course of fifty years.
The most unique elements are the letters of Spirit Rosenblatt, who presents her inimitable thoughts on painful breakups, minutely detailed dogsitting responsibilities, and five kinds of disasters, all in listicle format.
