OBITUARY: Joan W. Foy, 89

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Joan (Willey) Foy, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at CareOne at Wilmington, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on December 14, 1936, in Concord, New Hampshire, Joan was the cherished daughter of Henry A. and Gertrude (Davidson) Willey. She was raised in Concord and graduated from Concord High School with the Class of 1954. After high school, Joan attended the Katharine Gibbs School, where she studied secretarial skills — a foundation that served her well throughout her career.

Joan was proud of her work and known for her meticulous nature and attention to detail. She began her career as an administrative assistant at Burlington Savings Bank and later continued her work at Green Mountain Power. No matter where she worked, Joan took great pride in doing things “just right.”

Joan married her husband, Donald W. Foy, and together they made their home in Colchester, Vermont, where they raised their three children, Brenda, Jeffrey, and Michael. Joan’s family meant everything to her. She was a devoted and loving mother who was delighted in spending time with her children and creating a warm, welcoming home. She especially enjoyed being a “hockey mom” to her boys and their friends, faithfully cheering them on and famously baking cookies for the team bus. The family shared many happy memories together before Don’s untimely passing in 1978.

A lover of travel and new experiences, Joan embraced life fully in her later years. After retiring, she split her time between Bayonet Point, Florida, and Sugar Hill, New Hampshire, with her companion, Donald Addario. Together they shared more than eighteen wonderful years filled with travel, laughter, and adventure. They loved trips to the ocean and long days on the beaches of Maine and Florida, and Joan took great joy in sharing stories and photos from their travels to Italy, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. Their adventures often included visits to the casino, which Joan greatly enjoyed.

Joan had a special eye for collecting things she loved, including Beanie Babies, Anna Lee dolls, Toby Jugs, and antique jewelry. She also took great pride in caring for her Christmas cactus, tending to it with the same patience and devotion she showed in all areas of her life.

Joan will be fondly remembered for her beautiful handwriting and the many heartfelt letters and cards she wrote to family and friends over the years. Above all, she will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and her beautiful smile.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Donald W. Foy; devoted mother of the late Brenda Bissonette, Jeffrey Foy and his wife Jodi, and Michael Foy and his wife Rachel; loving grandmother of Damien Currier, Alicia Currier, Brent Laberge, Julianna Foy, and Jackson Foy; and dear sister of the late Mark Willey. She was also deeply loved and very special to the late Donald Addario.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, New Hampshire. Memorial donations in Joan’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association alz.org.
