Below is an obituary from Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home:
BURLINGTON, MA — Mark J. Faria, 67, of Burlington, passed away on January 23. A lifelong resident of Burlington, Mark was deeply rooted in the community he loved and called home for his entire life.
Mark was born in Boston, the devoted son of Joseph L. Faria Jr. and the late Florence M. (Wilkinson) Faria. Mark was educated in the Burlington School System and proudly graduated with the Burlington High School Class of 1976. He continued his education at Bentley University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, a field in which he worked for many years with quiet dedication and integrity.
Mark was a private and soft-spoken man, but those who truly knew him understood the depth of his kindness, loyalty, and warmth. He was an integral part of his family, enjoying holiday gatherings with his nieces and nephew and joining his dad for weekly dinners. He often arrived at his sisters’ homes with a dessert or a bottle of wine, always ready to contribute and share in the warmth of family time.
He carried a positive outlook on life and possessed a wonderfully dry sense of humor that he shared freely with those closest to him. He was an avid lover of music from an early age. As a child, he learned to play the guitar and even tried his hand at the trombone, and music remained a constant presence throughout his life. He had a deep affection for classic rock and built an extensive collection over the years. In recent times, he found great joy in discovering streaming music, which allowed him to reconnect with favorite songs and rediscover forgotten gems that brought him joy once again.
Mark also enjoyed golfing and was an avid bowler. A devoted Boston Bruins fan, he remained loyal through both championship seasons and rebuilding years alike. The American Legion was a second home for Mark, a place where he found camaraderie and purpose. He enjoyed stepping up to sing a few lines at karaoke and was always willing to lend a helping hand at Legion events, whether social gatherings, holidays, Memorial Day ceremonies, or the annual golf tournament. Mark had a steady faith in God and was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his father, Joseph L. Faria Jr., of Burlington, two sisters, Denise McCabe and her husband Jeffrey of Tewksbury and Elaine Faria of Andover, three nieces, Rachael McCabe, Brooke Murphy and Lauren Murphy and a nephew
Christopher McCabe and his fiancée Katrina Groseclose, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visiting hours at the Edward V.
